Loch Insh Deposit

Dear P6 parents and guardians,

If you would like your child to attend the Loch Insh residential in September, please can I ask that consent forms are returned to the school next week?

An intial payment of £70 towards the trip would be much appreciated – this will help to fund the initial deposit which the school will be paying shortly.

Many thanks to those who have already returned consent forms and/or initial payments – receipts will follow on Monday 30th April.

On Monday, P6s will take home this letter, detailing the payments required: Loch Insh deposit request 27 April 2018

We have been applying what we have learned about speed, distance and time in a range of situations over the last two weeks.  We’ve used different online route planners to look at different journeys and consider how long different journeys can take depending on road conditions.  We’ve also used the forthcoming Loch Ness Etape as another example.  Miss Mullin has uploaded an activity called “Delivery Dash” to our Activelearn accounts – this is another opportunity to put our knowledge of speed, distance and time into action.

Please click on the link below to log in to Activelearn and have a go at this activity at home:

SSPCA: Food and farming workshop

On Tuesday afternoon, it was great to welcome Carol from the SSPCA back to Glenurquhart.  She delivered a workshop about food and farming to P6/7.  This linked back to our previous farm visit and our work on food at the start of the school year.

Scottish SPCA inspectors work with the farming community to ensure good welfare practices are being carried out. In this workshop P6/7 were given the opportunity to view what it is like on a working farm, what farm animals need, what they produce and gained knowledge on farm animals behaviour and senses.

Many thanks to Carol for another informative session.  🙂

A package for P7!

On our first day back after the holidays, an eagle-eyed Owin spotted that there had been a delivery – our brand new leavers’ hoodies had arrived!  The colours look great and the P7s have been proudly sporting them ever since.

Thanks to Mrs Laird and Mrs MacKintosh for all their hard work behind the scenes.  🙂
